| Work of Sannerwalk the Wise to be Moved to Wullyrik
By Jepwindle
WULLYRIK - One of the most important works of Gnomish philosophy, "The Treatise on Knowledge" by Sannerwalk the Wise is being moved from its secure location to the town of Wullyrik for the groundbreaking ceremony of that town's new library. "The library itself is not expected to be fully complete for another two years, but we felt that it was important to bring the Treatise here as a symbol of our dedication to the spreading of knowledge." says Mayor Effanjel.
A festival has been planned to mark the occasion. "We wanted to acknowledge those who have put in such an effort to get this project started," the mayor says with a characteristic grin, "and of course to welcome the dignitaries." Effanjel refers to the group of gnomish politicians who are accompanying the document to Wullyrik. The party itself consists of 15 members of the senate and is being led by Voice Carrawil, one of the two heads of Gnomish govenment. Carrawil is set to read from the treatise at the opening of the festival in two days time. The festival was originally slated to begin yesterday, but has been delayed due to what officials are calling a "scheduling mishap" which does not have the party arriving until the new opening date.
Bandits at Canas
By Gelwyn
FORTS OF CANAS - People travelling through the gates of Canas this morning may have noticed a commotion involving the guard and several unsavoury characters. This reporter has it on good information that the cause of the hubris was the notorious bandit Veridic the Bold, famed for his daring and slipperiness. Local notables of both the Blue Order and the Cabal of Righteousness have claimed to have secured leads on his whereabouts. However, this reporter is left wondering after the veracity of these claims.
The disturbance seems to have been over a small cache of gold being transported by members of the Blue Order. As it turns out, several of the mercs hired for the deed were in fact working for Veridic, and although Veridic escaped, several of the patsies were caught. Among those caught and detained were such unsavoury characters as Priscilla "Pennywhistle," Savorn The Cutpurse, Middlerick "Halfman," and Christian "Prettyboy" Thompson, who was wanted for several murders. His execution will be tomorrow in an undisclosed location, the others will be judged at a later time.
No one was hurt badly in the arrests.
Merriton Population is Booming
By Sebenwik
WITHIRK - Withirk and Grym are mourning the deaths of six of their town's nobles who were attending a meeting in Grym. The two towns have recently been attempting to re-open the lines of communication after years of feuding, and allegations are forming that this tragic event may have been the first step of a planned war. The town of Withrik has always been known to have a higher quality of life, having the security of a large stone wall to protect them against any would be attackers. Grym, on the other hand, has nothing but the brute force of an elite and downright ruthless legion of town guards. It is now believed in many circles that the meeting, which was called in the name of peace, was nothing more than a ruse to eliminate key members of Withirk's higher class, thus weakening the stability of the town and making them an easy target for siege.
The fact that of the eight nobles who attended the meeting (five from Withirk and three from Grym), only two survived. Both were from Grym. This fact does not do much for the case against them. Nothing more is known about the attack, and the two surviving nobles are being helf for further interrogation. Outside help is being sought to investigate the tragedy from either town.

New Arrivals in Lockout Harbor
By Ammalin
HARBORVIEW - Harbourview is currently playing host to a number of unexpected guests. A large ship carrying supplies, artwork and people wishing to immigrate from their homes in Hillsford, across the Tanthic Sea to HArborview and beyond. "We actually plan to make our way south from here to the city of Merriton," says one of the arrivals, a middle-aged man with his family in tow. "the trip itself wasn't too bad, if you like sea travel. My poor wife was sick the entire way over." City officials are pleased with the influx of new supplies that made the trip across the sea. "We are now able to offer a number of goods that we were unable to provide before. This can only mean good things for Harborview. We expect that this will bring in a larger number of people." Harborview would like to see that same kind of population growth shown in Marriton some time last year when adventurers swelled its population.
Travelers Be Wary
By Damriddal
CUROCK - Travelers through the northern forests of the New Illanthia and Cladash mountain ranges have been advised to
be extra vigilant this spring. The thaw has brought out an unusually high migration of trolls in the mountains, while bandits have been increasingly harassing travelers in the elvan woods. "Usually the trolls are still sleeping at this time of year," said Professor Hynickle of Ignilly University. "For some reason, this year we have seen far more traveling around in northern Cladash recently."
Not typically intelligent, trolls can usually be avoided by sticking to roads and not venturing too close if you see a group. However, the incursions have been serious enough that a royal advisory was handed down a few days ago.
In New Illanthia, the roads are beset by a far more intelligent and deadly scourge. Bandits, mostly elvan, have been attacking lonely travelers. Their reasons are as yet unknown, and local mayors are warning citizens to tread lightly.
"The bandits seem to have no apparent organization other than a commonality in clothing," said a clerk to the mayor of Laulciir. "They can be recognized by their chitin armor."
No one has yet come forward to claim leadership of the bandits. Some towns are said to be considering a reward for anyone who cuts down their numbers.
"Groups like this cannot do us any real harm," said one man who would not give a name. "But they're certainly not helping trade!"
Undead on the Rise in the South
By Kewthirsys, Staff Field Reporter
HEMLADE - Reports are coming in from the borders of the Tearwood Forest where several farmsteads and logging camps have been completely overrun by what appears to be creatures of undeath. The Legion of the Rose, based in Amakiir, has begun to reinforce their mercenary regiments to root out this familiar nuisance. Varro Arvemon, First Officer of the Legion, reassured settlers that this problem will be dealt with swiftly. "We're accustomed to these sort of incursions and will have the situation under control in no time. The important thing to remember here is to stay in doors at night and under no circumstances should the general public attempt to engage these foul creatures", Arvemon said at the Mayors Forum in Amakiir.
Meanwhile high ranking members of the White Order have already dispatched scouting parties into the Tearwood Forest. While officials were unavailable for comment, rumor has it that the Order is already preparing divine materials to combat this threat should it press forward towards more populated areas.
