| Missing Dignitaries
By Mitkinnil
WULLYRIK - Early this morning, a mixed group of gnomish senators and a hired entourage of guards were attacked while on their way through the Isle of Wonders. Voice Carrawil, who was scheduled to read at the groundbreaking ceremony for Wullyrik's new library from the historic "Treatise on Knowledge", a document penned by Sannerwalk the Wise, led the party. A surprisingly savage pack of gremlins burst forth from the tall grass and immediately set upon the guards. The surviving gnomes, including the Voice, were scattered during the confusion and only one, Senator Salzattal, managed to reach Wullyrik safely. Voice Carrawil and at least five other senators are assumed to be still lost in the countryside.
"This is terrible." Senator Salzattal was quoted as saying, "Not only are the senators missing, but a work of one of the greatest minds of the Ages may be lost. I can only hope that one of the others managed to save the treatise."
Travelers throughout northern Savincia are urged to keep a close watch on the roads and surrounding areas for signs of the lost gnomes. Voice Fetterwill has also asked that some effort be mustered to help recover Sannerwalk's treatise.
"Despite these troubling times, we cannot allow such a historic work to be forgotten." said the long-standing Voice.
Editor's Note: The Ganedan Chronicle is saddened to report that Senator Salzattal died of his injuries shortly after this interview. We would like to express our deepest sympathies to his loved ones.
Custodianship Dispute over Tearwood
By Kewthirsys
TEARWOOD FOREST - In an unexpected authoritative move, White Order officials have declared dominion over the Tearwood Forest. "With the growing threat of undeath in the region, we feel it is our duty to bring these lands under our protectorship", said Byrvine Harnal of the White Order in Southdowns. "Public safety is our prioity, we've no intension of retaining custodianship of the Tearwood once this threat has been removed."
The Legion of the Rose responded to the declaration with an increase to their military posturing. "Anyone can tell you, when it comes to the fighting of undead - no one and I repeat no one is better skilled then the Legion." Eston Le'Vik, First Officer of the Legion in Amakiir, responded. As Legion recruits in Nya began their long march south, into the Tearwood.
While it is still unclear how this turn of events will be recieved in Laulciir, the White Orders continued support is evident among such adventurers as "Burem of Southdowns" newly named associate of the White Order. But, with such a fragile truce in place, the White Orders declaration could could very well spark new tensions between North Larocia and New Illanthia.
Northern Larocia Happenings
By Mellypeddle
NEW ILLANTHIA - Aside from the normal troubles this time of year brings, everything seems to be going swimmingly for Northern Larocia. The northern land is notorious for it's harsh climate and rampant monster population. But things seem to be turning around due to the number of new people that have just seemed to be springing out of thin air.
Harborview, one of the only coastal human cities left on the eastern continent, is a major shipping port and the gateway to the west. Just recently one of the largest shipments of supplies, artwork and immigrants coming from as far away as Karthad has arrived in Harborview's ports. At last report several cases of intense seasickness have been reported at the port. Let us hope that is all it is.
Don't miss the rustic charm of Lokshire or Fort Davas either. The dwarven mountains are breathtaking, and the great halls and mysterious mines of Khaseldon shouldn't be missed by any traveller. And let us not forget about our sometimes reclusive but always helpful elvan friends in the eastern forests. Although there have been issues with thieves as of late, the breathtaking forests and the great elvan cities cannot be missed. There is a wealth of opportunity, adventure and gold to be made in the northern lands of Larocia.

Good Folks Gone Missing!
By Gelwyn
WULLYRIK - A small band of foragers, sent out to collect berries for the Festival honoring the arrival of "The Treatise on Knowledge" in Wullyrik, have gone missing. According to the local herbalist Abginnal. Sent out the day before, many foragers and hunters have been preparing for the festival. "Oh, it ought to be a treat, and such an honour for the folk of Wullyrik," says Wanderlok the Druid. "The Treatise on Knowledge", a proud collection of the ponderings of Sennerwalk the Wise of our age, was scheduled to arrive by the cockrel's crow this morn.
At the time of this article however, the town is currently ill at ease. The caravan transporting the Treatise, as well as senators and our recently elected Voiceof the People, has yet to arrive. It would also appear that local bandits and less savoury denizens of the Isles are afoot. "I, for one, am not too concerned. A full troop of guards was deployed with the caravan, comprised of men, gnomes, and several members of the more millitant guilds. Delays are to be expected," says Wullyrik's Captain of the Guard, Bimseddel.
Others though, are uneasy. "This is a risky time for the Folk of the Isles," local ranger Guilssos LeafShield muses, "and we must be carefull, and watchfull for signs of dark purpose..."
I shall, as always, keep the faithful readers up to speed!
Progress Made in Attack Investigation
By Sebenwik
GRYM - The towns of Withirk and Grym are still mourning the deaths of six nobles in what has now been determined as a monster attack. The peaceful meeting arranged by the town nobles had been set to take place at a local farmhouse as a neutral ground between the two parties. When only two returned, both being from Grym, suspicions arose about the legitimacy of Grym's intentions and whether or not peace was ever really on their agenda.
The allegations have not been well recieved by the hardworking people of Grym. "Why they think we would set them up in the name of peace is beyond me, how they can live so close and know so little about us is unfathomable!" said one local, whose opinion seems to be common.
An investigation has been mounted in and around the area of the ill-fated meeting, and local adventurers have validated the fact that gremlins appear to be massing around the area. This piece of evidence, however, seems to be insufficient to sway the people of Withirk and their preconceived notions. Sadly, this event has further driven a wedge between the two towns and seems to have destroyed any possibility of future peace talks. It seems as though the bitter rivalry between Withirk and Grym will continue.

IGNILLY - Every now and again, we here at the Ganedan Chronicle are prone to making occasional mistakes. With a team of diligent reporters stationed all over Ganedan, working hard to bring you news that is as up to date as possible, mistakes are possible.
The editorial staff would like to recognize and clarify the following errors present in the Chronicle published on the 86th day of Fall AR 2:
The article penned by Sebenrwik was mistakingly titled "Merriton Population is Booming" The title should have read "Unexpected Visitors in Harborview".
The town name Curok was mistakingly labelled as Curock, similarly, Fort Canus was mistakingly labelled as Canas.
All other mistakes of spelling were no doubt caused by a problem in printing, the presses are currently being examined by a dedicated team of specialists.
I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank those of our readers who helped to bring these errors to our attention. |
